Private Alexander Parker

 

Alexander Parker was born on 21 October 1886 at Aghnaclea, Tullycorbet, County Monaghan, the fifth of eleven children of army pensioner John Parker and his wife Eliza Ann (née Rutledge). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Laragh, Ballybay, County Monaghan, with his recently-widowed mother and three of his siblings.

Parker enlisted in the North Irish Horse between July 1908 and early 1911 (regimental number unknown).

On 28 June 1912, however, he emigrated the the United States, sailing from Londonderry for Boston. Later that year he married Sarah Gray (also from Ballybay) in Massachusetts. He died at Wayland, Massachusetts, on 24 June 1974.
